Hello all in Maddieland,

Adele (or Mrs Fred as she must now be known;-)) asked me to send her diary
of an incredible two days to you all on the list. It's massive so I've had
to chop it into parts!

Part One

Wednesday 26th January 2000

Got a call from the darling Mr.Lee 'Crunch' Swandale, top secret stuff, but
he's going to the Madness video shoot, as an assistant to Mr Tad 'Crunch'
Tadman, would I like to join him? What a little star!
Actually I take that back, Lee is a huge star, loads of love & thanks to
him.
I was to meet him at the New End Theatre in Hampstead at 9 - 9.30am

Thursday 27th January 2000

5am - got up & ready & hit the road for 6am, horrendous traffic, including
road works & an accident, no injuries, just a huge tailback. In desperation
I dumped the car in Hendon & jumped on a tube.
Got a call from Swanny, was Thommo with me? Oh dear, had we lost him
already?!
Got into Hampstead & bumped into Ali, one of the crew on her way for coffees
etc
Walked into the theatre & was greeted by Chris, 'Glad your here' he smiled,
oh how lovely I thought, how nice of him, then he added 'you can help me
unload the van!'
Van unloaded & Messer's Swandale & Tadman arrived in a van, greetings & hugs
& another van to unload!
Next to arrive was Lee with Mark (not Bedford), more hellos etc & in we
went.
The theatre was tiny, absolutely the dinkiest theatre I've ever seen! The
stage painted deep pink & red, with a piano, drum kit & chaise lounge. Woody
was ready & dressed, Mark getting changed, Lee & Chris milling about &
Suggs, Mike & Cathal in the bar on the coffees.
Swanny was kept pretty busy, I sat & watched it all being set up, Cathal
came in & sat down for a wee chat, looked tired but as always, stunningly
gorgeous ;o)
Phil Jupitus was there, very amiable chap & obviously loving being there.
'What's your actual job description?' he asked me, 'fan' I replied,
'Trainspotter!' corrected Woody, 'Anorak' added Lee. Thanks guys :o)

Everyone dressed in black suits & ties. Suggs in a dark navy pinstripe. Ian
Dury arrived, and though he was painfully thin & obviously in a certain
amount of discomfort, he remained in good humour & high spirits. The seven
band members were visibly anxious of his welfare & everything was done to
ensure Ian was as comfortable as possible. Cathal shouted for a stool for
Ian, 'A wooden one, not human' he quipped, Suggs ran out the back & found
the stool for Ian, filming started almost immediately. Swanny returned in
time for the shooting, having been out for more lighting supplies.
All was going very well, until the camera man stepped back & broke a
footlight, causing all the lights to fuse. Time for a ciggy break then :o)
I was given some money & sent off in search of a bottle of champagne &
cigarettes for Cathal, one magnum of champagne & 20 Marlborough Lights later
I ran back just as the lights were fixed, more filming done, Ian was
finished for now, & left with his son, wife, daughter & driver.
Swanny & Tad loaded the van & went ahead to the next location, a bunker on
Highgate Rd.
Cathal, Suggs & Lee started planning their dance moves, Suggs showed his
lack of understanding on the left versus right issue. Which led to him
landing on Mike for the first take & on the second take sending Lee over the
drum kit!
