...Part Four....

Friday 28th January 2000

Got up & dressed in my Vote For Fred t-shirt, same as those that they wore
on stage at the gigs, with 'we want freddie for our leader' on the back. Got
a bottle of water & set off for Kenwood House. Which of course was used in
Los Palmas 7 & It Must Be Love. I got parked & walked up to the house just
after 9.30. Woody arrived at the same time, we were taken to the Orangery,
signed in & sat for half an hour staring at the beautiful views & talking
about renovating houses.
A little after 10am, we went for a walk outside to see if anyone else had
got out of bed yet, Cathal arrived as we walked round, so we went for
breakfast in the cafe. They went for the full English breakfast, I couldn't
cope with that & stayed on coffee. Cathal serenaded us for a while, bit more
of a morning person than I am! The breakfast was pretty gruesome & they
couldn't finish it, so I poured the teas & got called mum all morning. Mike
arrived & was told to avoid the cooked brekkie, we headed outside as Ian
arrived, quickly followed by Lee. Told them that I'd got a message that Wee
Stoo was coming down from Scotland, they were really pleased & touched at
his dedication. More discussion on the video & other stuff, & we went to the
front of the house, the crew were setting up, the Sudan chair was getting
its final coat of paint, the costumes had arrived & Emma appeared.
Our first job of the day was to be wardrobe mistresses, we dressed Daniel,
Mark, Kevin & Woody in the Choir Boy outfits. They were to carry Ian on the
Sudan, with Rev Greene (Lee) in front, but it was decided that they should
practice first, so that as when Ian had to get in the chair, he could be
kept out of the cold as long as possible. But they needed a stand in, yep,
that was my next job. Well if they were going to drop or catapult anyone
from that chair, best that it wasn't Ian. It was a bit wobbly at first, but
after lots of walking around with supervision from Cathal & Mike they got
it.
When Ian got in the chair, the cheeky buggers thought that was much easier!
;o)
It was just gone 11.30 & I knew that if any Maddies were turning up that
we'd better move to meet them. I told Cathal I was going, did we need
anything on the way? Got Cathal & Suggs ciggy order, Mike thought we had
everything, but wait, there's something we need & don't have yet, could I
find a drip & stand?
Oh yeah, I can get one of those at the corner shop! Emma & I got in the car
& went to St. Mary's Free Hospital, I went in & did my best to charm them,
not really holding much hope, but the receptionist was a maddie & she took
me up to the site manager; Kevin, who was lovely, they got me a stand, a
drip & feed & Emma & I were off again. We went straight to the church, I saw
Wee Stoo & was thrilled to see him, as I got into the church I could have
cried, Nigel & Sarah were there, along with my buddy Graham Hewson & a bunch
of new faces. I can't tell you how glad I am that you guys made it, & as you
know the band were really chuffed that you dropped everything to help them
out. Bloody well done you lot :o)
