Hi Andy and all you Maddies,

It *was* a very strange edit they played on the Lottery Show. I certainly
hope he cut back to the first Ian Dury verse from the last one *was* purely
for public airplay and the "...only cap your kness" is in the single
version we all buy, especially as it wasn't simply cutting the vocal track.
They cut the whole thing so the piano builds up in the final verse and
then, all of a sudden, disappears, leaving the end of the verse sounding
very empty!!!
As for the extra remixing with lots of added percussion to beef up the song
and keep it chugging along. This was much needed IMHO and has enhanced it a
lot, even though a lot of it reminded me of the drum machine programs heard
on "Uncle Sam" and "Sweetest Girl"! I always thought the song stopped too
much to be a good radio single but the remix has helped this. I also
thought a subtle speeding up of the track would have helped, but we'll just
have to make do with the remix, and hopefully with that last verse in its
rightful place.
Cheers for now,
Peter
