Totally agree on all that has been said about Virgin Records,
unfortunately Virgin Records has absolutely nothing at all to do with
either Richard Branson or any other 'Virgin' branded companies, he
sold Virgin Records to EMI a few years back.


    Further to this, EMI have a proud record of not promoting any band they
figure isn't going to guarantee them at least 100 000 sales. Other bands
such as Roxette (who are massive in South America) have suffered in the
past. However, judging by Virgin's general record anyway, even if they had
been signed to V2 it probably wouldn't have made any difference. Only
teeny-bopper bands (we know who they are, I'll vom if I name them) and
worldwide stars (Prince, REM etc) are promoted at all these days.

    Looking at this weeks Top 40, if you knock out the groups / individuals
who either
a) have no talent (can't sing / play / write) or
b) have no proven record over time then that puts Madness @..... N�15 (work
out which 40 fit into 'a' or 'b' categories yourselves)  :o)
