Well, the national press in Britain (either yesterday or the day before, can't remember) reprinted a Top 100 list taken from this month's Q Magazine. They got a people to vote over 18 months to decide on the Top 100 albums of all time. The results were, to be frank, a little perplexing. Number One was, unsurprisingly, The Beatles' 'Revolver'. I don't particularly like The Beatles, but I recognise that this was a good album. Similarly with the number two, Radiohead (can't remember the album title OK Computer or something!!).
Well, I scrolled down the list... and down... and down... no Madness. That's not too surprising, thought I, their best-selling album was a compilation (not included for obvious reasons). So, I decided to have a look to see who else wasn't in there.
Now, bearing in mind that everyone has their own differing tastes, you still know where certain albums are likely to appear. Oasis were in the Top Ten, and Queen weren't (I thought, strangely). The Doors only scrape the Top 100!! And one of the definitive albums of the early 80s Paul Simon's 'Graceland' isn't there at all!! Anyway, to have a look for yourself (and perhaps a chuckle or two) point them meeces to:
