Hello all in Virtual Maddieland,
It's been VERY quiet on the list recently, so I thought I would mention a
couple of Madness references I've come across in the last week. Firstly,
BBC Choice had a profile of Zoe Ball (! I know!) and when they showed
pictures of her wedding they played "It Must Be Love". NOT Suggs singing it
live at the wedding, as no cameras were allowed inside. They just played it
over all the pictures from the day.
Also I went to see the movie "High Fidelity" and, as I'm sure someone has
mentioned before, there is a reference to Madness when discussing what
records they would want played at their funeral, and one of the record
store attendants says "One Step Beyond by Madness"!!! Very cool I
thought;-) And a cool film, with a scary amount of things being a bit close
to the bone for me!;-) Anyways, I was wondering if there are any literary
experts out there who have read the original book by Nick Hornby. If so,
could they tell me if this is a line right out of the book? Or is it a
reference put in by the American screenwriters (which included John Cusack
himself, who has already shown what amazing taste in music he has with
Grosse Point Blank)???? I'd just like to know.
Cheers,
Peter
