Hey! Well, that's got the list talking again! Just to clear
something up: I didn't say anyone was annoyed, I was just summising. I agree
with Vince, Paul and Andy, they are indeed victims of their own crime. My
main point was the open advertising of it. Many people have bootlegs of
bootlegs - and fair play to them if it's cheaper than the inflated prices
Vince mentioned - but it's not something to advertise to a list of over
500!!

Good to get some chat going on the list, though

Stay Mad 8-)

Subject: [total-madness] Mad CD and bootleg guilt

Hello there....
In relation to bootlegs, and in particular FSB...I
find it quite ironic that the guys who 'bring this
out' ie. Georgie or nijinski.com get pissed off....

I mean HELLO? did they record the stuff....no it was
Madness wo did....hello did they write the songs? I
don't think so.......If anyone who should be pissed
off its the bands themselves...

Bootlegs exist and they always will...I have many many
bootlegs and have gotten some invaluble stuff....but I
would never feel guilty about recording one for
someone else...the only people I would feel guilty
about would be the bands themselves...not the other
'middleman' who is producing the stuff.....

I myself have done copies of tapes/videos and CDs but
never went out to exploit material for my own
profit......I have seen Madness Xmas 99 Cds on sale
for 40, now that is offensive, firstly to the band
perhaps but more so to the prospective buyers...that
price is exploitery and really is an offense.

As for FSB the Cd....indeed its great, my only bitch
with it is it comes on 2 tracks....although I hear a
'remastered' version is doing the rounds lately which
has 27 split tracks on it with a new cover.......

The CD is out there, maybe from an unsavoury source to
begin with, but it is there and undeniably there is
some choice moments on it, yet I would have no guilt
about Mr. nijinski.com or whoever in copying it for
friend or whatever, if I was to charge, it would be a
very fair one and not an exploitery sum unlike other
'dealers' out there....

Anyway how the hell did I get onto this subject....

Young Guns Sept 27th.......I await anxiously.....

All the best

VincE!
