I was chatting to Jesus Christ the other day on ICQ and we got talking about
bootlegs, copyrights and MP3s and he said to that his dad said to him 'thou
who ain't sinned may cast the first custard pie'

I believe that bootllegs and any breaking of copyright laws should not take
place. But the reason we buy them is because the record labels/bands don't
release the stuff we rearly want to hear. The demos of the songs that never
make and that live version they played in front of 24 people in some pub
before they hit the big time.

Hands up whos used Napster to download copyrigthed songs
Hands up whos recorded songs off the radio
Hands up whoscopied there mats Cd on to tape
Hands up whos made copies of cds so they can listern to it in the car.

These all break copyright laws but these things happen.

I first Madness album was a copy. My sister wouldn't let me borrow is as
much as I wanted so I copied it on to tape. Did this affect the band in any
way. Yes I then went out to buy every other album they ever did. So copies
and Mp3s don't always take money away from the band. I use Napster to
download the odd song that I like but don't like enought of the bands other
songs to buy the album.

I don't think that bootlegs do as much damage to record labels and bands as
much as people say.

Its nice to have a good talking point back on the list.
