I actually agree with you on this. For instance, it would have been
nice if Virgin had delved into the vaults and found some of the demos
themselves and included them on the remastered CDs just issued.
However, it's easy to argue that if these songs are not available
legit, then the record company are not losing out on legal sales. This
is a problem if the marketplace is flooded with bootlegs, this would
then potentially damage any future legitimate releases, beause people
would not need to buy the official product-endangering future
legitimate archive releases.
It's because we love the band so much it annoys us that they're
are being abused to line some other peoples pockets.
I don't really want to go into the MP3 debate, 'cos thats raged on and
on on just about every other newsgroup/mailing list I've used in the
last 6 months.

Actually, I've not done any of those. Really! I have copied my records
onto CD, which is technically illegaly, but maybe not morally so, and
I think that's the main point here.
