Hiya Paul and all you Steps-bashers;-)

>Just to prove the point... this weekend Staircase straight in at #1 and Blur
>(with their first single in a year or so) in at #10!!! The world weeps...
>and us with it! ~ Tennessee Paul

I certainly don't weep, Paul. That Blur single is very close to being their
worst ever single and is indicative of a band who have completely lost the
plot and have forgotten how to write tunes (as they used to do so
wonderfully). Their last album was a total mess and this single, together
with the B-side which was originally going to be the A-side, shows no signs
of them getting their act together.

As for Steps. Well I've a lot of time for them. When I see them on telly
it's certainly not THEM I feel the need to bash! So long as the tunes hold
up! But frankly their recent singles have been less catchy than days of
yore. And this single is obviously a re-working of that "Don't Stop The
Dance" song from years ago. S Club 7 are doing it with more style these
days, it has to be said. But the majority of these manufactured groups are
not up to the standards of these two. Westlife springs to mind. They are
absolutely shocking. Boyzone bored everyone eventually with continually
doing insipid ballads (after a couple of class singles made them mega). So
they get out of the game and Ronan gives us some younger lads doing the
same thing and the public falls for it and they get 6 no.1s!!!

Finally, some Madness comment. Were Bad Manners REALLY more successful than
Madness in 1980??? How can that be????

Cheers for now,
Peter
