This truly is a real tragedy, not just because she has two very young children, not
just because it comes so close to Christmas but also because the world has lost a true
musical genius.
I was privileged enough to have seen Kirsty perform live on a number of occasions,
both solo and with The Pogues, and also at the Ian Dury Tribute. One of my favourite
Christmas songs of all time is The Fairy Tale of New York with The Pogues. A
masterpiece. I can remember Kirsty and Shane McGowan bringing the house down singing
it many times at the Fleadh in Finsbury Park, and that was always in June!
My heart goes out to her two children. I can't even start to imagine what they must be
going through.
