Dear all,
Hello it's me, Woz, writing for the first time this year and for a long time
:o) I thought I'd better add my view on this bootleg debate which has risen up
again.
I am NOT going to buying the Lost, for several reasons, these are:
a) the money issues.
I'm sure no true fan would want the band getting ripped off, and considering
they wrote, performed and produced all (or most) of the tracks, it doesn't seem
right that little or no money in this case, goes to the band and instead goes
to the bootleggers. Plus the fact the flipping thing is £38, bloomin' 'eck!
b) Quality
After checking out the Lost page, it appears that the CD will be released on
CDR and not pressed. For £38 I'd expect top quality pressed CD's, not dodgy
CDR's which you can buy for a quid in a shop.
c) The Artwork
I've looked at the artwork and there's nothing unusual or exciting about it. It
has the "wonderful" which surely is copyrighted to Bedders and Robert Stimpson
of Design 451 degrees.
d) The band don't like it
Chas has already expressed his views on the double CD package. I'm sure the
rest of the band feel the same way.
Onto the idea on an internet release(s)...
That would definetely be a good idea, however, maybe there is something in the
Virgin contract which stops the songs be released by other methods than through
Virgin Records? I know this has stopped several other bands in the past
starting their own Internet service...
However if there are no contract rules, etc, etc I can't see why the band can't
go ahead with the idea. :o)
I hope you all had a merry christmas and a happy new years,
Cheers,
Woz
