well just to chip in with my own views
on this
firstly it is ridiculous that the lad's get only 3%
i think we're all agreed on that one
now the second question about should you buy
a bootleg is a tricky one to deal with
many points to cover
i think it true to say that no true fan condones
the fact that somebody who has no real interest in the band
(whoever that band might be) makes a hell of a lot of
cash out of there hard work. (especially £38 that's well over the top &
shame on you)
it's almost countamount to biting the hand that feeds you
in a metaphorical scene
but saying that there are a few people out there
who do these CD's / tapes etc charge not for profit but to cover cost's
& shear an insight to the bands talent which are not freely
available elsewhere.if it was a case of it being a free CD
how many would put there hands up & say "i wouldn't touch it"
surely record companies are just as bad by
profiting by rehashing greatest hit's over & over again
rather then promoting new martial & giving them a chance
to evolve
to sum up
if you are a dedicated fan & enjoy the music
i think that you cant help being interested
in any rarities or concert footage
& in an ideal world bootleggers would be able to
do so if there was the same percentage from sales
e.g..10% that could be paid to the band
(there goes another flying pig)
we've seen that some bands record companies
like pearl jam & oasis etc
who took the initiative to released concerts
& other rarities, beat the bootleggers at there own game
& good on them
comon for god sake virgin !!! wake up!!!
you know that there are people out there who are
waiting to buy the greatest hit on dvd, never mind
what other goodies are floating around
how many of you's out there have heard this
"i never knew madness had a new CD out"when you were talking about
wonderful or the last two singles
how many more people out there would have bought
wonderful /J,T,H drip fed Fred or crunch !for that matter
if they only had the promotion & backing of virgin etc
it seems insane to me that when there's many 1000's
of people out who would buy if only they knew
i hope they get there arse's in gear for the velvet ghost
