I guess it's a bit late to enter into the bootleg
debate - however...
It is doubtful that anyone in Oz will be purchasing
this CD as it translates to approx $100 - a lot of
bloody money no matter how you look at it for
something that is unofficial. I haven't even had the
opportunity to buy The Lot as I have not seen it about
in ANY record shops in OZ - darnit!
Anyhoo!
The idea of releasing stuff over the net is a great
idea, however, not being a musician, I can only
imagine that whatever they (Madness - or parts
thereof) create is a very personal thing, it is an
expression of what is inside, and for the most part
what we have heard of Madness has been an absolute
blast! But we have to give them the discretion on what
we get to hear, these bootlegs of demos - they are
just not the finished product and not always something
that the band wants us to get our eager little hands
on.
Much as we are all STILL after so many years eager as
all hell to get our hands on new material or
previously unreleased material, I think we must
respect the guys and let them censor the things that
are so personal or as yet unfinished works (of art - I
am completely objective...not!), that they have not
seen fit to release them!
