Further to my previous email where I reported on a
press release I had seen that a new Cerys
Matthews/Madness double A-side single was due to be
released on 25th June, I have since contacted the
record company for further details.
Their response, which I hope they don't mind me
publicising, was as follows:
"No, there will be no commercial release. For radio
purposes we have to give a 'release date' but there is
not really enough commercial interest for us to
sell it through the shops."
So there we have it, clearly the announcement that it
was to be a new single was merely to encourage radio
stations to give it a bit of airplay. I'm sure we
can't really blame them for trying. So looks like the
only thing that's going to emerge from this is the
promo itself if you're lucky enough to get your hands
on it.
