Hello everyone
This little snippet appeared in the Mail on
saturday TV Guide type thing:
MUSIC CHOICE
SUGGS
Ska Train
Radio 2 10pm
"Nutty Boy" Suggs has played it nuttier than ever
these past few years, presenting Channel 5's racous Night Fever karaoke
show and capataining a team on BBC1's A Question of Pop. He seems
forever doomed to be the cheeky chappy, even when in educational mode presenting
this new seven-part series on the history of ska music. Ska, a Jamaican R&B
hybrid, had particular appeal to Ben Sherman-wearing working-class youths such
as Londoner Graham McPherson. He became Suggs and fronted the enormously
successful ska pop band Madness- taking it's name from a song by Prince Buster,
which opens the show. Ska may have given way to reggae in popularity but, as
Suggs points out, its influence can still be detected all over the
place.
Tapes at the ready then people!
