As some of you may know, I work for the News of the World, for my sins. After a bit
of digging, I can exclusively reveal (as they say in the trade), that this week's
secret Madness gig was at a 500,000 wedding party in Puerto Banus, Marbella.

The nuptials were for a millionaire internet whizzkid called Chris Gorman, 35, and his
34-year-old wife Mary, who were renewing their vows and celebrating their 10th
anniversary.

1970s disco crooners Hot Chocolate were also hired to appear - but I'm afraid I don't
know who got top billing!

So-called celebrity guests attending the bash included Blind Date host Cilla Black,
Lily Savage (aka Paul O'Grady) and Christopher Biggins.

Invites to the secret party had been sent out in baked bean cans. The 220 guests were
simply told to make their way to a location in Spain where they were picked up in
coaches and taken to a villa in Puerto Banus.

Chris and Mary, from Kilmalcolm, Ayrshire, retook their vows at the villa on Thursday
before the star-studded reception which ended at 6am on Friday.

Guests were given a day off on Friday before heading out to a private beach party near
Marbella on Saturday.

I'm not sure whether Madness played at the reception or the beach party.

A spokesman said: "It was a fantastic event. Everything went very well. People are
nursing a few sore heads this morning after two days of partying, even though Friday
was supposed to be a rest day."

So there you have it - Madness have now come full circle and are playing at weddings
again - even if it was a bit grander than Dave Robinson's bash in 1979!
