* both are "older" artistes in the grand scheme of things. * both have little or no backing by the record companies they are with. * both have a pretty substantial silent fan base, most of which are on the internet. Now look at the equally important differences: * Madness have had over 23 Top 10 hits throughout the last 20+ years, Otway has had 22 FLOPS in the same time (circa). One song stormed in at 187 and never improved!!!! * Otway didn't write the song he released. Madness are an original act. * Otway got together with his fans and pulled this off with no outside help. We have been unable to get our acts together. * Otway is crap. Madness are a "much-loved institution".
