Title:
  module-combine-sink causes daemon to crash

Status in pulseaudio package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
upgrading to ubuntu 12.10 breaks the module-combine-sink feature of
pulseaudio -- the old module-combine that was removed in the newer
editions is still referenced by the paprefs program that would
normally set the combined output feature of pulseaudio; various
sources give recipies for configuring module-sink-combine instead, for
example throughthe gconf-edit setting of the
  system/pulseaudio/modules, however enabling the module-combine-sink
will cause the pulseaudio daemon to abort.

documents on pulseaudio module-combine-sink are very out of date; the
instructions reference the old oss sound drivers! I did try
configuring for alsa devices hw:1,0 and hw:0,0 (as seen in the
attached config files) but these were not recognized in the sound
control app attached to the volume status bar icon or in the pulse
  audio volume control
