Title:
[HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC, IDT 92HD81B1X5, Mic, Top] Background
  noise or low volume

Status in pulseaudio package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
I do not believe it is an issue with the hardware, because I tried
dualbooting into Windows 7 and was able to record sounds without any
  of these issues at all.
