Hello Joshua,
Thank you for submitting this bug and reporting a problem with cups. You made
this bug report some time ago and Ubuntu and cups have been updated since then.
Could you confirm that this is no longer a problem and that we can close the
ticket?
If it is still a problem, are you still interested in finding a solution to
this bug?
If you are, could you let us know and, in the current version, could you run
the following (only once):
apport-collect 1336822
and upload the updated logs and and any other logs that are relevant for this
particular issue.
Thank you again for helping make Ubuntu and cups better.

Title:
CUPS ignores page output order for some Brother printers
Status in cups package in Ubuntu:
Incomplete
Bug description:
Printer I am using is DCP197C.
1. Install drivers from
http://support.brother.com/g/s/id/linux/en/download_prn.html#DCP-197C
(both lpr and cupswrapper are required)
2. Try to print a document with multiple pages
3. Document is output in wrong order (last page prints last instead of first,
so you have to rearrange the printed document by hand)
4. Run system-config-printer and change 'Reverse Printing' to 'On' in printer
options
5. Do a test print to find this has no effect
6. In 'Job options', click 'More' under common options and change 'Output
order' to 'Reverse'
7. Do a test print to find this has no effect
The only workaround I have found, which was really not obvious at all,
was to edit /etc/cups/printers.conf, and add
Option outputorder normal
before the closing </printer> tag of the relevant printer.
I have only tested this under DCP197C but I expect similar printers in
the series (including DCP195C) would also suffer from this problem.
Perhaps it is caused by the recently introduced introduction of using
PDF as the default job format instead of postscript
