Bug description:
I am attempting to diagnose the cause of my M-Audio Audiophile 2496
card not producing any sound under Natty (11.04).
Various sound troubleshooting procedures advise to have the latest
version of ALSA installed, which according to alsa-project.org is
1.0.24.
However, /proc/asound/version reports that the driver provided by this
package is actually 1.0.23 despite the package's version number
suggesting otherwise.
