And what possible advantage does upsampling a RedBook stream to 88.2 do
as a final step? There is zero advantage to inventing data that is not
in the source.

If they were doing some signal processing, then perhaps I could be
convinced that working at 88.2 has some advantage over 44.1. But if the
last step to the process is taking a RedBook file and converting it to
88.2, that is just smoke and mirrors.
