Nice test setup, but as the rest of the posting notes, as well as most
of contents of this tread say, 24/192 is pointless.

While the Neuman U87 is a great mic, and used in studios all over the
world, if you get the specs from Neuman, see
http://www.neumann.com/?lang=en&id=current_microphones&cid=u87_description

It has a claimed Frequency range 20 Hz ... 20 kHz

but if you look at Neuman's own test plot:
http://www.neumann.com/zoom.php?zoomimg=./assets/diagrams/u87ai_diagrams.htm&zoomlabel=Diagram&w=878&h=278

you see that its down 5 dB at 20kHz and the curve is falling off
rapidly. Eyeball looks like more than 6dB per octave.

There ain't gonna be any signal over 30kHz.

And the Struder has its own fall off well over 6dB per octave over
20kHz. So its gonna ignore any signal that the Neuman sends its way. The
choice of a 1/2 inch 2-track is smart, their decks with more tracks have
worse rolloff. The usual tracking 2" x 24 track Studers can't do as
well as the 1/2" 2-track.
