What is supposed to happen is that after the initial scan is complete subsequent drive attachments start a quick scan where it is just comparing date and time of the files against the database, this is much faster than a full scan. Of course it will take longer to check the dates on 50,000 files than it will on 10,000 files, but its much faster than a full scan. If it finds and new or updated audio files it will scan just those files. Unfortunately I think some people are having a situation where the initial scan fails for some reason leaving a corrupted database on the disk. Thus at the next attachment it can't do the quick scan and has to start over again.
