Maybe some modest component upgrades to the Dacmagic should be considered? I use a Beresford dac which has been upgraded a couple of times at modest cost and I have been very pleased with the results. I have no knowledge if mods to the Dacmagic are feasible-just assume that there will be some compromises in the design which would benefit from better components.
