Also have to resist some urge... For no compromise, try battery supply. I don't know if there is something established to get 5V, either a linear regulator, or 4*1.2V NiMH cells will get you close.
Only loosely related praise: I've measured the digital out of the SBT, and can say it's the best I've ever seen. Crisp edges, perfectly aligned and perfectly crossing each other at 50%, eye pattern can't be more open. I can't measure jitter, but from the looks I can imagine it is small. I read the circuit has extra discrete flipflops to reclock the outputs.
