Hi Flash, Power cords on transports can make huge changes on the sound,
and I have found on my SB3 that various power supplies change the sound
even when using the digital out into a Genesis digital lens performing
buffering and re-clocking. In my case, since I am buffering the
digital out, I imagine it could be due to a reduction in noise being
injected back into my other components from the SB3. Before I had the
lens, I ran the SB3 into a Theta TLC jitter box, and then into my (at
the time) Theta Pro Prime IIA DAC. The power supply for the SB3 made a
much much larger difference then.

No digital transport makes zeros and ones, they create fluctuations in
voltage on their output. This analog signal is then intrepreted by a
reciever, which then has to decide when the signal is beyond some
voltage long enough to be signalling "high" or "low".

I'd suggest trying a few cheap ideas and see if you can hear an
improvement. In my case, I got a full rack-size HP DC laboratory power
supply for $40 from a friend. If you hear an improvement, sweet, if
not, that's good to know too. Always let the experiment and your ears
be the final arbiter :)

P.S. digital cable upgrades may also be very audible in your system
