I have to kind of agree. The built-in server TinySC is a 'feature' of
the Touch and as such is going to have limitations. The Touch is a
Network Media Player and it preforms its primary function very well
IMO.

More over it would be impossible for Logitech to make the Touch with
TinySC compatible with every USB drive that has been made. Especially
when anybody can buy a cheap USB drive that doesn't even meet the USB
Standard much less being USB Standard Certified.

Logitech did go out of its way to make sure the USB port on the Touch
meets or exceeds the USB Standard. Some USB drives draw more then the
Standard at start-up and others draw to much always. The USB 1.x and
2.0 specifications provide a 5 V supply on a single wire from which
connected USB devices may draw power. The specification provides for no
more than 5.25 V and no less than 4.75 V (5 V±5%) between the positive
and negative bus power lines. For USB 2.0 the voltage supplied by
low-powered hub ports is 4.4 V to 5.25 V. A unit load is defined as 100
mA in USB 2.0. A maximum of 5 unit loads (500 mA) can be drawn from a
port in USB 2.0. So with a single USB drive only, the max draw by spec
would be 500mA.

If ones drive draws more then this, I say they need to use a powered
hub or buy an external powered USB drive. I think it is also important
to note that all drives don't act or handle everything in the same way.
Drives that go to sleep or spin down and have long re-start times don't
play well with TinySC in my opinion. If the USB drive has the option to
disable sleep, I recommend doing that if one is having trouble with
TinySC and their sleeping drive.

In mobile use, I recommend using a small USB Certified USB Powered
Drive with ones favorites or multiple USB drives. In a fixed position
usage (audio rack, coffee table), I recommend using an external powered
USB Drive if one is going to use a large drive for ones whole collection
(disable sleep or buy one without the option).

Nothing here is in stone, but I have found that these suggestions tend
to eliminate issues.
