I own an iMac connected to an Apple AirPort Extreme Base Station, as
well as two external hard drives in my home network. I also have a new
iPod Touch with iPeng (haven't used the app yet, though). Some online
investigating reveal a simple and reliable hack that makes it possible
to connect a hard USB drive to the Apple TV, which currently comes with
it's own 160GB drive. If my goal is to connect my stereo system to a
media player with the added storage provided by a wired EHD, what's
wrong with Apple TV? I had hoped to achieve my goal with a Touch,
but...well, you've read some of my posts.

Has anyone had experience with ATV, especially the 160GB version with
3.0 software? Rumor has it that a new Apple TV will soon be revealed,
one that ditches the internal HD for 16GB of flash storage, runs on the
new iPhone OS, and supports 1080P HD - all for only $99. None of these
features appeal to my particular needs, but I'm hoping a new ATV means
the older model can be had at a reduced price.

Thoughts? Opinions? Flames?
