Thanks everyone for your advice. It sounds like a wirelessly accessed NAS might not be such a good idea then. I want to try a hard wired connection from SBS to Touch so I think the getting the quietest HDD is the way to go.
And Inguz doubts mean Atom may not be good enough. I hadn't really considered building a higher power server but I think this might a good thing to do, with a 2.5" 1TB HDD acoustically treated it should be near-enough silent? Certainly cheaper and more configurable than a Mac Mini, and cheaper than a new Tranquil PC. (The benefit of the Tranquil PC is silence, is it a price worth paying..?) The newly released quad core AMD 45W Athlon II X4 610e looks interesting, the Intel i3-530 is 73W, which swings it in the AMD's favour. Anyone know if the AMD could be passively cooled? -- badboygolf16v ------------------------------------------------------------------------ badboygolf16v's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=19486 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=79889 _______________________________________________ Touch mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch
