It would have to be a good DAC, I compared mine with digital out into a Beresford TC-7510 and the analogue outs and couldn't tell the difference. Modding the software to switch off the digital outs etc. as described on the link improved sound quality through analogue out beyond the digi/Beresford. though no doubt this would work for digi out as well if you switch off the analogue.

I would like to trial a good DAC such as Weiss or Naim, but don't want to spend the extra money and have the extra box again! I would only really have the Touch to feed into it anyway and perhaps my blu ray player for music DVD's, seems a bit of a waste somehow as I am very happy with the sound, a big improvement over the Duet IMO.
