Thats a bit like buying a 42 inch plasma tv and poking your eye with a stick before you watch it. If your Dac only handles 16/44 its almost 100% guaranteed that the DAC within the touch feeding its own analog output will sound far superior. Try it. Most people who use an external DAC with the Touch will use one that exceeeds the quality of the internal dac ie ability to handle 24/196. By using a 16/44 DAC you are downgrading the quality available Native from the Touch.
