I've had a Touch for several months now, and have generally been very
happy with it. Yet in recent weeks it's begun to drive me nuts. I hope
someone can help!

The problem seems to lie with the Squeezebox music scanner. I first
noticed that there was a tendency for the Touch to disconnect from the
Squeezebox server - located on my laptop - between album tracks. At
this point, the remaining track time would start counting down from 59
minutes.

Initially, this was happening via a wireless connection to my Netgear
router. But it still happens now I'm connected to my laptop via
ethernet.

On examining the Server Control Panel, I noticed that when the
connection is lost (and sometimes you do get a Touch message to the
effect that it's having difficulty connecting, other times you just get
no sound), something fishy is going on under Music Scan Details (under
the Status tab). Usually, the progress bar is all green, suggesting
that a rescan has just taken place. Hit Rescan and, as often as not,
though a scan begins, it ends almost immediately and the connection
does not resume. Try again, and suddenly it's clear that the scan has
begun in earnest - at which point the next track will usually begin to
play.

Can anyone at least begin to suggest what might be happening? I have a
large music library (over 35,000 tracks) and I'm using Windows 7.
What's especially puzzling is why this has only started to happen so
often recently. While using a wireless connection, I use to suffer the
odd drop-out, but nothing like as bad as it is now - where I can rarely
make it through to the end of an album without several interruptions.
