The typical one is the wifi connection.  Can you temporarily wire the
touch directly to the laptop and see if the problem goes away?  Then'd
we've narrowed it down to the wireless connection? Also what format of
file are you playing?  And assume you haven't changed any of the
streaming/conversion options.

If I had to make another guess what the problem is I think the HD is
somehow disconnecting periodically?  Can you copy some of your music to
the laptop's internal HD and point the server to that. See if it
continues to give your problems.
