I've had a mixed experience with homeplugs, I use a set to connect my server upstairs to the router which is downstairs however I experience rebuffering problems and if I transfer a file on the network whilst playing music the streaming is impacted - general file transfer is painfully slow.
I'm actually going to move the server downstairs shortly and plug direct into the router which should make things better. Reasons why? Looking at this thread its likely due to old electrics and also having the homeplugs on a power strip (due to the fact the plug sockets are low and not enough space between them and the carpet to plug direct into the socket!)
