Welcome to the forums. *1. Yes, but* to play your own music you need to have the Squeezebox Server (SBS) software running on some computer on your network. The options are:
*a) Run SBS on your NAS.* Many NASs do not have the requisite RAM or CPU power to run SBS. On other NASs the operating system is so "locked down" that it is either extremely difficult or impossible to install SBS. Even if you get it installed on your NAS, many people find NASs unacceptably slow for navigating the SBS web interface or scanning music files. *b) Run SBS on your PC.* If you do this, you can either store the music files directly on the PC, or store them on the NAS and have SBS access them that way. I started out with (a), but now I use (b) and that is what I would recommend. *2. Yes.* And for internet radio and other services such as Rhapsody, Pandora, Napster, etc you do not need to have SBS running on your PC or NAS. Instead you would connect to mysqueezebox.com, which is an SBS server on the internet. -- aubuti ------------------------------------------------------------------------ aubuti's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2074 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=82304 _______________________________________________ Touch mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch
