No because how would the duet remote talk to the touch if the touch is
not on the network?  Bit of a catch 22, and is why many people have
issues setting up the SBR.  The SBR gets around this by establishing an
ad-hoc wireless network with the duet, however this sometimes does not
work and is where people run into issues.  The touch was never designed
with the condition you speak of and therefor does not go  into an ad-hoc
mode by default.
