I repositioned my wireless router slightly. Actually, I just rotated it so that the back of the router with the two antennas was perpendicular to the direction of the Touch. This seemed to help a lot. I also set the SSOTS on the NAS to make the Squeezebox server a high priority task. Between the two, it has reduced the frequency of the stutter quite a bit, although it does still occasionally happen. It even happened once when I was testing it with a wired connection to the router. It happens so infrequently that it is difficult to conclude anything from any of the various test I have tried. If it never gets any better than it is right now, I am still quite satisfied. If a patch comes along some day, so much the better.
