I had the same kind of thing happen with my Vista machine that drove me to the brink of insanity all day yesterday.
After all of the usual re-installing/re-booting/re-setting to factory settings, numerous times I think I finally figured out what was causing my issue and thought it might help someone else. It all started when I tried to play the new remaster of Paul McCartney's Band On The Run, that I purchased from his site. Don't get me started on the trouble to even get my downloads from them, as I'm sure others have had the same issues. But they first sent me the 16/44.1 Apple Lossless & AAC versions (I ordered the 96/24)and I just imported them right into iTunes, since all of my library is Apple Lossless. BIG MISTAKE! Something is wrong with the tags as is, because everytime I tried to play anything from that album it crashed the server! Now, I didn't put 2 + 2 together quickly, it took much time, effort & fustration to finally figure that out. Weird thing is, the files play fine in iTunes, but they did something to the tags. I haven't run them thru MP3 Tag yet to see exactly what is wrong but that's what did it. Once they sent me the 96/24 Wave files (why didn't they use Apple Lossless or FLAC?) and I converted those to Apple Lossless and those worked perfectly! So I haven't been in a hurry to figure why the others didn't work because I have the Hi-Res ones and it made me so mad, that I need a cooling off period. So anyway that was how I solved this little issue, so be careful about letting strange tags into your database. On a side note, I'm a long time lurker since I got my Touch in April and you guys/gals have been a real help in figuring all this stuff out. I'm not a huge forum poster type guy unless I really feel I either need the help or can help someone else out. So I just wanted to say HI, and Thanks for all the great tips. -- rayman1701 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ rayman1701's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=41326 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=82966 _______________________________________________ Touch mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch
