The two questions I would ask of anyone faced with this decision are: is cost immaterial, and does Sonos do everything you want it to do. If the answer to both those questions is "yes", then I probably would recommend Sonos (recognizing that everything I know about their product is based solely on what I read).
The answer to both of those questions for me is "no", which is why I choose Logitech. When I first started researching these products, I was looking for something that most closely resembled my ideal "jukebox experience". That included not only the typical operations of a traditional jukebox (play random songs until someone puts in a quarter and queues up a track of their liking), but also would customize the random playlist based on my likes and dislikes. Thanks to 3rd party plugins (particularly Erland's), Squeezebox allows me to rate songs and play those I prefer more frequently than those I don't. Last time I checked (which was sometime last year), Sonos doesn't have that ability. I've put up with the wifi issues, the syncing issues, and other annoyances to get to a point that my player does exactly what I want, and does it reliably. It took some time (which was a good education in tech matters of which I was not previously familiar), but I'm now quite happy with the product. I recognize that not everyone is as particular as me regarding how they listen to their music. The vast majority want it to "just work", and are willing to pay for it. I'd suggest that those folks not take a chance with SB, as I still remember what I went through to get to the point I am at today...and I wouldn't want them "dog-cussing" me if they were faced with some of those same problems! (BTW, the recommendations in this thread as to how to avoid common problems are spot on...the reason my system works well now is because I followed much of this excellent advice.) -- GeeJay 2-SB3s, 1-Duet, 1-Touch...and an iPeng convert. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ GeeJay's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=11388 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=84267 _______________________________________________ Touch mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch
