I am trying this myself - so far with mixed results. Used ab 8 GB made by SanDisk with no problems. I then tried a 16 GB made by Toshiba and the SqueezeBox couldn't communicate with it, even though two Win 7 computers had no trouble. I had the same problem with the Yamaha AV amplifier.
Is there a size limitation? I also used an external, powered, ITB USB Hard drive with both devices and experienced no problems. Maybe the Toshiba USB stick needs more power than the devices can supply?
