For those of you who have helped and/or are interested, I thought I should tell my further adventures.
I took the Toshiba 16GB sticks back to the store and they admitted hey had no clue as to why I should have these problems but they were kind enough to exchange them for another brand, Lexar. Lexar worked just fine. I wish I could tell you the reason.
