Then this is combined with you own pride: you bought so many expensive audiophile stuff because you are the one that hears the subtle differences that others fail to hear. Now you are put on a test and you will think twice if you hear some difference or THE difference. In the end you could lose and you don't want that because that would be detrimental to your status as the one with the best ears in town. If the changes were subtle I might agree that blind test won't help anymore. But please reread most of the comments (including your very own): you talk of HUUUUGE audible differences and now you are telling me that you can't hear them anymore, just because you are blindfolded and don't know if the changes are in place.
