Yes the RCA is line level only they don't drive headphones you need a
headphone amp .

RCA should connect directly to the amps.

But besides from using very high quality phones and high standards re
sound-quality.

Is not some in ear type of phones very very sensitive you amplify noise
greatly.

What is the typical volume you use with the Touch ? remember that the
Touch uses a digital volume control reading this forum settings lower
than 70% can affect sound-quality, some claim anything but 100% is bad
.
This depends greatly on system gain some uses this volume directly to
power amps, but with such gain that 100% volume is as loud as you wan
to go but not louder, this means that at lower volume the total volume
is simply to low to notice any decrease in quality.

So the sennheisers with rather low sensitivity might need more volume
to sound the same.

So if you really have hifi phones of good quality and an ear for good
sound.

I would crank the Touch up to 100% volume and conect a headphone amp
and use it's volume for listening.
