I tried server transcoding to my Touch it's still 96k according to my
DAC .
But I only experimented with flac and wav.

Flac sent w/o transcoding is 96 resp 88.2 without problems .

it can be a bug in wma lossles to flac or wav that wrongly re-samples
to 44.1.

On the other hand lossles is lossles so why not make flac of the wmal
files and Touch handles flac natively .

If you don't want to take the plunge to 7.6 ?

Further FLAC seems to the most well tested file format you can use on a
squeezebox, it very seldom fails , possibly only with to high
compression rate use -5 on hirez files , otherwise they may not play on
a transporter
