Upon checking the album art in detail I noticed that in some part in my collection (somewhere in the A-I folders) there were some anomalies in the album art: the embedded files were OK, but the folder.jpg's were sometimes mixed up, wrong files from different albums. Looks like some copy or disk error from some time ago (they were all older files). Of course I did not notice this when still using the SB2. It seems the album art scan became mixed up with this...since correcting it manually the problem disappeared and the Touch is now showing the correct album art.
I also updated to 7.6 and noticed some differences in that, too, so that may also have helped.
