Thanks ray ... I do not think the DAC is doing anything at this stage. I tried to feed the DAC with 24/88.2 and 24/96 via optical cable, sent from my MacBook Pro, and it just will not take it.
So this is something that Squeezebox does. My optimistic guess is that there is a handshake via TOSLink where my DAC says: "I max out at 24/48", and where SBT responds: "Alright, will truncate the stream and just send you every second bit or so". My pessimistic guess is that it is, for some reason, downsampling or truncating the files all the time, and that I do not get Hi res at all (not even from the other output, the coax SPDIF one). Anybody?
