I just tried the new firmware release 7.5.4.r9302 and did a full rescan of my USB hard disk and the bug is not fixed : not artwork at all showing (and the number of covers found by the scan is incorrect again).
Luckily I did a backup of the .Squeezebox folder before upgrading, so I'll be able to downgrade to r9218 easily without having to rescan all again.
