Not sure about the server issues - try switching off the controller when you're not using it, it may be a connection issue there.
As for your buffering, are you using wireless? This all sounds like poor wireless connection and network issues rather than issues with the Touch. What router are you using? I have had my setup for two years (Receiver then Touch) and almost all connection issues have been down to the router/network, an upgrade to a Netgear router and better server solved my problems, oh and going ethernet which was always my intention anyway but even with wireless there weren't any problems with a decent router.
